Unsinkable Pucca is the first segment of the second episode of the second season and the twenty-eighth overall episode of the Pucca television series. It first aired on March 10, 2008.
Synopsis[]
The Sooga townsfolk take a cruise on the "Unsinkable Gigantic", unaware that Tobe and his iceberg are out to sink them.
Plot[]
On a chilly evening in what looks like 1912, the great ship Unsinkable Gigantic is ready to make its maiden voyage. Captain Chang is watching as his passengers board, repetitively proclaiming the ship is unsinkable.
While crates of supplies are being loaded in by crane, Pucca chases Garu around the docks, crashing through boxes. He gives her the slip by hopping aboard one of the crates as its being loaded up onto the ship deck. But while the ninja is smug about his smooth escape, he walks right into Pucca's kiss, her having come aboard just that fast. He flees once again as the ship leaves dock, heading out to sea.
In the evening, the passengers collect in the grand dining hall. Ring Ring is on stage performing a song for them, but the continued antics of Pucca and Garu knock her from the stage into a water bowl. She is furious, but simply asks someone to bring her a towel.
Captain Chang checks in with the crow's nest if their route is still clear. The lookout is Ssoso, who confirms everything is safe. However, he is currently following one of his philosophies which involves looking backwards at the direction they've come from, instead of forwards. Chang is unaware of this and looks down on deck at his happy passengers. Abyo rips off his shirt, then shivers as it is a chilly night, much to Santa's amusement. Garu is still running away from Pucca. All is normal.
However, an iceberg suddenly appears right in the ship's path and Chang frantically tries to direct them around it. The sudden swerve unsettles the guests, but Pucca remains determined to catch Garu. She accidentally smooches Abyo, much to her annoyance. Despite Chang's attempts, the iceberg moves itself right back in front of the ship again, so he swings them away again. This time Pucca accidentally kisses Santa, again to her disgust. Chang can’t understand why the ice has a "mind of its own".
Beneath the water, it's revealed that the iceberg is actually a submarine controlled by Tobe and powered by his ninjas on bikes. As Garu is supposed to be guarding the ship, the villain plots to sink it and bring shame to his enemy.
Chang repeatedly tries to dodge the iceberg until Tobe has his minions raise the iceberg to its full height, towering over the ship. There is no time for any more evasions and the Unsinkable Gigantic scrapes against it (which finally gets the attention of Ssoso).
With the loud crush of metal, Tobe is confident his iceberg has torn open the ship. But he's shocked when his vessel starts to flood, as it was the only thing damaged in the collision. Captain Chang smugly revels that his ship has lived up to its name and sails them back out to clear waters. Tobe and his ninjas abandon their sinking ship and sneak aboard the Unsinkable Gigantic.
Garu finds Tobe onboard and the dark ninja calls for his minions as back up, but finds Pucca has already caught them and is tormenting them atop spinning plates. The two remaining ninjas get ready to battle, with Garu taking them down to the ship's hull so they can have more room. While they fight, their swords unknowingly punctures the ship's bottom, only finally taking notice when the hull becomes mostly flooded. Tobe scrambles for the ladder out then knocks it aside, hoping to trap Garu within the sinking ship. Lucky for the pig-tailed ninja, Pucca comes to his rescue.
As the ship is now really sinking, the passengers panic as Officer Bruce directs them to the lifeboat (leading to Dada being trampled over). Chang calls for women and children to board first, though the first person in line is Santa, dressed as a lady. There are other suspicious "ladies" and "babies" who reveal themselves as Tobe and his ninja crew. They steal the only lifeboat and sail away, leaving the passengers to their watery doom. Unfortunately, Tobe gets so caught up in his gloating, he unintentionally punctures a hole in the stolen boat. This leads his crew to take a dip in the freezing water and resurface in ice cubes.
The Unsinkable Gigantic is now mostly sunken and, while the passengers are all okay, clinging on to the leftover debris while shivering in the cold air, are unsure of what to do now. Pucca, still on the remaining part of the ship, flings its anchor into the distance until it hooks another ship, which she then drags to them. It’s the Funny Love Boat, a more modernized cruise ship with a dragon as their musical entertainment. The Sooga villagers are delighted to be saved but, as the Gigantic finally sinks, Ching notices Pucca has gone missing, asking where she is.
Out in the ocean in a single life boat, Garu finds himself alone and is relieved that he's finally escaped from Pucca. However, she pops up in the boat besides him and, as they are now stranded, there is no escape. She falls onto him with kisses as they drift along under a heart-shaped moon.

Trivia[]

Errors[]
See also: Errors/Season 2
- The episode takes place in 1912, but Destiny appears with a keyboard, which became popular after the 1950s.
- After the vessel avoids the iceberg, the iceberg top is in the front, meaning that, underwater, it is above the windshield. But instead, it is showing 8 windows and the windshield is on a side.
- When the iceberg goes up, the iceberg seems to goes up to the left side of the vessel. But in the next scene, it is goes up to the right side of the vessel, when Ssoso yells "starboard iceberg" meaning that the iceberg goes up to the left side of the vessel again. But when the iceberg begins to sink, the iceberg sinks to the right side of the vessel.
- Despite this episode taking place in 1912, Pucca pulls the ship, a 1960s modern yacht, with a 1950s battery piano.
Allusions[]
- Titanic- The entire episode is a spoof of the 1912 RMS Titanic disaster. The highly acclaimed "unsinkable" vessel (the "Unsinkable Gigantic") crashes into an iceberg and sinks, resulting with all the people, who are unprepared, freaking out when the vessel begins to sink.
