The Table Ghost is the 1st segment of the 8th episode of Pucca: Love Recipe.
Synopsis[]
Pucca recieves a table as a present, only to learn it houses a ghost rabbit. The creature is cute and friendly, instantly loved by the townspeople. When Fyah sees Goh Rong packed with customers, he decides to take the rabbit for Dong King.
Plot[]
Pucca is out making deliveries when she spies Granny chasing her runaway cart. Not only does the girl stop the cart, she also gives the woman a ride to town hall. As thanks for all her good deeds, Granny gifts Pucca a special table that though old and beat up is said to be made from an old oak tree where a pretty rabbit used to live. Granny has more to say about it, but Pucca becomes distracted by Garu passing by and takes off after her, not staying long enough to hear Granny's warning.
Pucca brings the table back to the Goh Rong where her uncles praise her for her kindness. To their surprise, from the table emerges a ghost rabbit that startles them. Pucca, remembering Granny's story, realizes it must be the bunny that once lived in the oak tree, now haunting the table. Despite initial fears, they realizes the ghost is not frightening and very cute. When it shows to be hungry, the chefs are eager for the challenge of feeding a ghost rabbit, offering it bean stir-fry which it enjoys a lot. One bean slips away and the rabbit tries to go after it, but when it gets too far from the table, strange energy starts to build so it turns back. Pucca hands it the runaway bean and the chefs warn her to be careful.
Pucca helps the rabbit get some exercise by carrying the table out into the woods. There, another living rabbit hops up and seems interested in the ghost. But since the ghost rabbit still cannot stray from the table, its would-be friend must hop away. Pucca next bumps into Abyo who is amazed by the ghost rabbit he'd heard from rumors, asking to spar with it though she just ignores him.
Sometime later, more people have heard about the ghost and start coming to Goh-Rong to see the adorable creature. Fyah notices this and hearing of the cute ghost, is determined not to let the Goh-Rong steal the show. He hires Tobe and his ninjas to break into the competition's restaurant and steal the table during the night. The dark ninja isn't pleased with such a simple job, but does it anyway.
The next day, Pucca is horrified to find the table gonr and heads out to look for it. Meanwhile. Fyah lures the rabbit out of the table with food, then locks it in a cage with a sheet over it.
Fyah advertises to his customers that the ghost rabbit has chosen to come over to the Dong King Restaurant and be their new mascot, bring in a big crowd. But before he can unveil the spirit, a problem in the kitchen has him running off and leaving the rabbit and the table unattended. Ring Ring comes to investigate all the ruckus and seeing the ugly table on stage, orders Ayo to remove the filthy thing. The boy does as commanded, but when he takes the table away, the rabbit is shocked by the separation and the previous energy returns, causing the creature to change. Ayo dumps the table in the woods where Pucca finds it and happily takes it home, thinking her friend is still inside.
Fyah returns to the stage and unveils the rabbit, but instead of the cute critter it was before, the separation from its table has mutated it into a giant monster that attacks him. Pucca arrives with the table and seeing what the rabbit has become immediately guesses what happened. She dodges all its swipes at her and once close enough, she lands the table on the beast's head. This pacifies it and the ghost shrinks back down to adorable self as she takes it away.
They head back to the forest and once more, meet the living bunny from before. It's clear now that this rabbit and the ghost bunny have fallen in love, greatly supported by Pucca.
Pucca sets up a tiny picnic date for the bunny lovers, keeping the table close so they can be together. This is right outside of Garu's house and when the ninja boy comes out to see them, he also sees the similar picnic Pucca has set up for her and him. Terrified, he takes off running with Pucca right on his tail.
