The Goh-Rong Taste is the 1st segment of the 3rd episode of Pucca: Love Recipe.
Synopsis[]
Fyah bribes two culinary critics so they can give a bad review to Goh-Rong's food.
Plot[]
Reporter Su Da is covering the arrival of famous food critics, Mabori and Matbora, to Sooga Island. The two are hungry after their boat ride and, noticing some local kids eating Dong King ice cream, ask them for a taste. Matbori immediately points out all the issues with its texture, taste, and ingredients. Meanwhile, Matbora simply calls it good. As a team, they can make or break pretty much any restaurant they review.
The critics soon reveal their purpose of being on the island, having been called by Fyah who wants them to denounce the Goh-Rong Restaurant while boosting Dong King. In exchange, he has promised them the limited Stainless Ladle dolls which the two think are so incredibly cute, but they can only have after completing their deal.
The critics head to the Goh-Rong restaurant where they immediately take off ten points for its old-fashioned décor. Pucca cheerfully shows them to their seats and while they make requests for hot and cold water, warning her not to take too long, she delivers it instantaneously. Both are pleased with what they've gotten but pretend not to be. They make their order for veggie dumplings and Dada rushes to the kitchen, though trips and needs Pucca and Ching to assist him.
While the staff is distracted, Matbori releases a jar of flies as he and his brother pretend to panic, blaming the restaurant for them. However, Garu swoops in with a pair of chopsticks and collects them all into a basket which Pucca is appreciative of. The critics are shocked by this just as Dada returns to tell then the chefs have run out of batter for the veggie dumplings. The two are happy for this excuse to act out, claiming they have no patience, but are shocked to hear it would take 6 hours for the batter to be prepared. Dada suggests that while they wait, they can go collect their other ingredients with Pucca who whisks them away outside.
In the Goh-Rong garden, the critics are not happy about having to harvest their own vegetables, though Ching finds it amusing. All their struggling gets them only one turnip while Pucca is chasing Garu around, further annoying them. They demand to go back to the restaurant , until noticing that their turnip has a cute bunny-like appearance which prompts them to go searching for more. Ching suddenly calls out to them, hiding in the bushes with the others, and warns the twins they must seek shelter. They are offended at her "bossing them around" and deduct more points form Goh-Rong's score. Her warning proves to be vital, though, as a swarm of grasshoppers run through, destroying everything in their path.
The bedraggled critics return to the restaurant with what they've collected, still deducting points at their rough experience. However, the chefs take none of the damaged vegetables and declare they cannot use them, not letting the critics pressure them into betraying their morals. When asked if they can cook anything else, the chefs declare seafood stew would be an option and Pucca once again whisks Matbori and Matbora away to get more ingredients. They return waterlogged and upset, but with everything needed.
The chefs whip up the seafood stew and set it before them. Matbori and Matbora prepare to deliver the worst review ever but as soon as they take a bite, they are swept away by its amazing flavors. They try to snap themselves out of it, but Dada also comes to deliver for them free dumplings for their long wait and they cannot deny how great these are. Su Da returns to ask them how the food is and, overcome, they blissfully faint, to her confusion.
Watching this reaction of TV, Fyah is outraged that they didn’t give the Goh-Rong a bad review. He throws the Stainless Ladle dolls in anger, only for them to bounce off the wall and hit him in the face.
The next day at the Goh-Rong, Matbori and Matbora are back again, requesting seafood dumplings. When Dada must again apologize that it will take hours for the batter to be made, they gladly prepare to wait the time, for which Pucca is happy.
