The Bodyguard Contest is the 2nd segment of the 2nd episode of Pucca: Love Recipe.
Synopsis[]
Ring Ring creates a personal bodyguard competition, and wants to make sure that Garu wins with help from her "assistant" Ayo. Too bad she didn't expect other contestants, especially not Pucca!
Plot[]
Fyah is busy running the Dong King Restaurant when he's surprised by a visit from his nephew, Ayo. The boy proves to be overly honest with his observations. At that moment, Ring Ring calls down with an order for orange juice and the busy Fyah asks Ayo to give him a hand.
Up in her room, Ring Ring is browsing through a gossip magazine when she finds story about a princess falling in love with her bodyguard. This gives her an idea on how to finally catch Garu. Ayo arrives to comment about this declaration, introducing himself to her and offering the juice she wanted, though she pushes it aside and demands he put up flyers for her.
In the village, the kids see the flyers for a bodyguard contest with a bonus prize of a lightsaber. Abyo is eager to win such a weapon and so is Garu, so they look forward to competing against one another. Ching and Pucca decide it looks like fun, so they also sign up.
The group arrives to Dong King, all wearing black suits so they can look the part. Ring Ring has dressed as a princess to greet them but must quickly silence Ayo when he almost talks about her rush n Garu. He's been put in charge of the tryouts and gives the group their first test: tp protect their individual Ring Ring holograms from various projectiles that will be fired at them.
The first projectiles are tennis balls Ching effortless cuts through using her sword. Unfortunately, the debris lands on her hologram Ring Ring, thus disqualifying her as a bodyguard. Abyo does better in deflecting the tennis ball but when the next projectile of eggs is shot at him, he's overwhelmed and concedes defeat. Pucca is doing a great job, caching the eggs safely in a basket without harm to them or her hologram. Ring Ring isn't pleased by her success and launches spikeballs at the delivery girl. She responds by ripping off one of the Dong King's glass doors to use as a shield. The Ring Ring hologram is intact so Ayo declares she passed, to Ring Ring's annoyance.
Garu is confused by his very easy projectiles of heart shaped balloons. Ayo assumes this is a mistake and swaps the machine for him, letting him battle the potatoes and eggs. The ninja boy overcomes both, protecting his hologram and earning the admiration of Ring Ring and Pucca both. Even when an incredibly large egg unexpectedly hatches, Garu catches the bird and sets it free, clearing the test.
Ayo leads Pucca and Garu out into the woods and presents them each with a cellphone. Over the line, Ring Ring is calling for help as she has apparently been kidnapped by Tobe. Both competitors are given a GPS to the location but while Garu gets simple directions, Pucca's lines will take her on a convoluted path there. No doubt more of Ring Ring's trickery.
Garu arrives to Tobe's treehouse base where he and his ninjas are guarding their "captive". Ring Ring is delighted that Garu was the one to find her, declaring he's won the competition and demanding Tobe release her now that the simulation is finished. However, the dark ninja admits he wants to battle against Garu, so he'll keep Ring Ring tied up for now.
At that moment, Pucca arrives and while Ring Ring thinks she'll save her from the filth, the delivery girl jumps right over the heiress and knocks away al of the ninjas. Tobe, afraid of her, tries to play nice but she throws him into the distance too while Garu's sword is tossed up to the pig-tailed boy still stuck in the snare.
Ring Ring finally topples over but is saved at the last moment by Ayo grabbing the chair. Unfortunately, he finds her too heavy (and tells her that) so he does drop her into the mud anyway. Ring Ring is outraged by this and transforms, breaking herself free so she can chase after him. Garu cuts himself down from the trap but lands in Pucca's arms where she takes advantage of the situation to kiss him.
In the end, Garu won the bodyguard competition and uses his lightsaber prize as a reading light. Mio approves.
