Secret of Dandy is the 1st segment of the 5th episode of Pucca: Love Recipe.
Synopsis[]
Busboy Dandy has been hiding in the Goh-Rong Restaurant, waiting for a chance to learn the legendary secret of martial arts. When the chefs need someone to fetch "a secret" from a nearby cave, this might be Dandy's big chance. If only he didn't have Dada along for the ride.
Plot[]
Dandy, as he does every day, watches Pucca trying to catch Garu with her amazing martial arts skills. He considers his task of spying on the Goh-Rong to learn the secret of martial arts as he is sure they have hidden somewhere.
In the past, he had gone to Master Soo to learn of such secrets and though the master admitted to not knowing, Dandy would not leave him be. Nearby, Garu was practicing his swordsmanship when Pucca appeared, showing incredible balance to stand on the tip of the blade no matter how the boy tried to shake her off. Dandy was amazed by her skills and Master Soo quickly lied that since Pucca came from the Goh-Rong Restaurant, the secret of martial arts would surely be there.
So Dandy got a job in the restaurant to hide out and find the secret for himself.
Back to the present, the chefs speak about a special secret they have hidden in the Tyrano Forest but now must retrieve. Dandy eagerly offers to go get it for them - thinking it’s the big secret he was after - but they ask him to also take Dada as a guide to the area. Dandy isn't too sure about the boy's perpetual clumsiness.
The two set off, Dada reading the map for them. Ching is playing with her soccer ball by the street but accidentally startles Won who knocks the ball away. She requests help from Abyo to get it but he misses and it bounces to Dandy and dad. Dandy refuses to waste time but Dada tries to catch it, only succeeding in knocking over everyone else. Realizing this will just hold them up, Dandy uses his own martial arts skills to send the ball back to Ching. Dandy carries the dazed Dada out of the village so they can continue their quest, but the boy angers a bees nest and gets chased by them, to Dandy's further annoyance.
Garu returns to the Goh-Rong to see the chefs worried about Dandy and Dada. They explain that the two will need help getting the secret and request Garu go after them, taking a bag that contains something tht will let them get the secret safely. Pucca offers him a ride on her scooter.
The busboys have finally reached the cave that holds the secret which Dandy is glad for. They venture inside and find a scroll, but Dada qucikly drags them back out as something scared him. A frog hops out after them and Dandy, not impressed, goes back in alone. But he soon comes running out as the real terror is revealed: a tyrannosaurus rex, guardian of the cave, which chases after them. Dandy gets away wit his skills and has the option to get the secret from the cave, but instead rescues Dada. However, the two are both caught by the dinosaur. Garu arrives at that point to set them free and face the dinosaur by himself, only to be outmatched.
Pucca steps up, getting the dino's attention and having it chase her. She remembers the tool her uncles spoke of and from the bag, pulls a giant bone. The dinosaur is immediately distracted, acting like a dog, so Pucca tosses the bone to have the tyrannosaurus chase after it. Everyone is safe, but Dandy has disappeared.
On a nearby mountain, Dandy has run off with the Goh-Rong scroll, delighted to have the secret of martial arts he had been longing for. But after opening the scroll, he is confused by what is written on it.
He takes it to the chefs so they can explain and they declare what it is really about: the secret to making their sticky dumplings. The ingredients are just as Linguini suspected, winning him the bet and giving him the right to bop his brothers with a toy hammer to their amusement. Dandy is confused by what has really been going on but accepts things as they are, getting back to his usual job while watching Pucca and Garu. He will find the legendary secret someday.
