Samba of Doom is the third segment of the second episode of the second season and the twenty-eighth overall episode of the Pucca television series. It first aired on March 10, 2008.
Synopsis[]
Pucca and the gang go on a trip to Brazil and join a samba contest.
Plot[]
In Brazil, Carnival is underway and Sooga Village has their own Samba team to enter the annual parade competition. With Garu to perform a capoeira demonstration with Ssoso, Abyo has high hopes for their team to win. Across the way, though, Tobe hopes to steal the victory with a display of football (soccer) but seeing as his ninjas only know how to flop for the penalty, he decides maybe he will sabotage the other team after all.
On the night of the competition, Santa is acting as King of Carnival, introducing the judges and the rules. Each team can take an hour to parade down the street but if they don’t cross the finish line in time, they face great shame (a sentiment empathized by Tobe and a bullhorn).
As the clock is started, Abyo proudly introduces his team, Best in Brazil, though ripping off his beaded shirt causes trouble in the audience. He blows his whistle and Best in Brazil begins their parade. The chefs have a human pyramid, Pucca and Ching are dancers, and they even have musician. On their float, is a giant ball on which Garu and Ssoso perform their capoeira. Officer Bruce tries control the enthusiastic crowd but on second thought, decides to get with the Carnival spirit and rips off his clothes to reveal a swimsuit underneath. Everyone is having fun.
Tobe chooses this moment to try and stop the parade. He and his ninjas walk into the Samba team's path with a giant fan that causes a huge windstorm their way. The powerful gale bring Best of Brazil to a standstill but also blows the chefs away. Pucca catches them with a lasso and anchors them to the float, then reangles the fan away from their parade but also that it sucks up Tobe and launches him out of the way.
The dark ninja recovers (while making a jumble speech about a kazoo) and tries again to derail the parade by launching himself at Ssoso, punching the monk out. Tobe and Garu begin to battle one another atop the float, though it starts to get out of hand as they rise higher and higher into the air.
Pucca hops onto the float under them and catches Garu but Tobe breaks them up, which angers the samba dancer. She violently spins the giant float decoration and while she again rescued Garu, Tobe is sent flying again, this time crashing at the finish line. The Best of Brazil team is crossing the finish line, the only one's left being Pucca, Garu, and their float. With only a short time left on the clock for them to cross the line, Tobe rushes off to use his last resort.
Just as the Best in Brazil float is about to cross the line, they are stopped by Tobe's football-playing robot, with him at the controls. Using the robot, Tobe takes the ball off the float and launches it back down the street, keeping the team from finishing their parade. Pucca takes off after it and kicks it back towards the finish though Tobe's mechanical goalie stops it cold, to her shock. The dark ninja shows off his skills in this makeshift game before launching the ball toward Pucca again.
The two sides go back an d forth, evenly matches but with time running out for Pucca's samba team. The judges watch the match and while two are frightened at this off development, the football player Radicchio tries to join in, only to be stepped on by Tobe.
They are down to seconds and Pucca's best plays still can’t get past Tobe. Though that doesn't mean she's out of options. Tobe gloats within his goalie certain in his victory. But this sis cut short when Pucca has launched the ball right through the robot, punching a hole in it as it soars over the finish line. King Santa declares it a goal, just in time to beat the clock, while Tobe (stuck to the ornament) is still being propelled out of Brazil. He lands in a river and at first thinks he's safe, only to find it’s the Amazon and the water is full of piranhas. The dark ninja swims for his life off into the distance.
The judges have declared Best in Brazil the winners. The stadium fills with applause and the Sooga team dances in celebration for their victory. Garu is caught by Pucca who kisses him while around them, dancers samba in heart formations.
