Puccahontas is the second segment of the twenty-third episode of the television show Pucca. It first aired on April 16, 2007.

Synopsis[]

Garunimo must pass his warrior challenges with unwanted help from Puccahontas.

Plot[]

In the Native American Universe of Sooga Village, the brave warrior Garunimo prepares for his test that will make him a true warrior or force him to leave his village in shame. Puccahontas, overhearing this, is determined to assist him.

The first challenge is to obtain the feathers of a bald eagle. The young warrior climbs a tall rock (while being aggravated by Puccahontas' love-letter smoke signals) until reaching the nest of the giant bird. As he tries to grab its feathers, Puccahontas takes this moment to pop out of the bird egg and startles the eagle into taking flight with Garunimo still hanging on. Puccahontas picks up a few stray feathers and flies after them; the bird crashes but the boy is saved just in time. Village Chief Soo makes a joke about this and receives the eagle’s feathers as the first test has been passed.

For the next challenge, Garunimo must swiftly carve a log into a totem pole before it goes over a waterfall with him on it. Puccahontas joins in to help him and while distracting Garunimo from his task, both go over the falls. They wash up downstream where Chief Soo is waiting and he admires the love story that has been carved into the totem, to Garunimo’s aggravation.

As his final challenge, Garunimo must sit within a steam tent overnight to contact his ancestor spirits. In the heat of the room, he has hallucinations of dancing with the bears and swimming with the fish until images of Puccahontas begin to overtake everything. He snaps wake and is horrified to find Puccahontas in the sweat tent with him, having sewn the flaps shut so he can't escape as she kisses him all through the night.

The next day, Garunimo finally manages to escape the tent with Pucca close behind him. Chief Soo congratulates the warrior who has completed the challenge and, to Garunimo’s shock and confusion, crowns Puccahontas instead of him. The girl is now able to choose who she will marry and the other villagers step aside, leaving Garunimo in the open. He hops onto a nearby horse and takes off, but the new female warrior is close on his heels as they ride into the sunset.
