Pucca: Love Recipe (뿌까 Ppukka: New Pucca) is a South Korean animated TV series based on the franchise, Pucca. It is the second original Pucca TV show following the show produced by Jetix Europe and the third season of the original series (marketed as it at markets outside of South Korea). The show was made in part of an partnership of South Korean mass media company CJ E&M and VOOZ Character System as part to revive the franchise after a five-year-hiatus.[1] Planeta Junior, a imprint of Planeta Group, a Spanish mass media group picked up the show and expand it at international markets.[2]
This show first aired in South Korea on December 10, 2018 on MBC, and on December 19, 2018 on Tooniverse. It consists of 26 episodes (78 segments). Pucca: Love Recipe was released internationally by Planeta Group on Netflix on December 31, 2019. This series features redesigns of old characters (as in use since 2014). and new characters such as Dong King, Casano, and Dandy, and more (though before their appearance on Love Recipe, some had been in the Pucca web shorts).
Plot[]
There is an over-arching plot detailing the rivalry between the Goh-Rong Restaurant and the Sooga Island location of a multi-national restaurant chain called Dong King Restaurant. Ring Ring, a local 12-year old fashion star, who appeared in the Jetix show and also appeared as Pucca's rival for Garu's affections, is revealed to be the daughter of Dong King and at times works for him, while also directing his servants against Pucca. These servants, under the command of the Dong King Restaurant's manager, Fyah, continually attempt to steal the Goh-Rong's customers by means of various dirty tricks, including occasionally hiring villains such as The Boo Trio, Tobe and his ninjas or The Pirates.

Future[]
The show is on an indefinite hiatus as there is no plans for a fourth season.
Trivia[]
- In the trailer, Dong King Restaurant was originally known as BonaSera.
- Even though Pucca:Love Recipe is considered to be the third season, it acts more like a prequel due to the reintroduction of characters or a different continuity due to the reuse of premises and scenes from the previous series as well as changes to the continuity to the series.
- Ring Ring does not know who Pucca or Garu are in her reintroduction episode. Ring Ring also didn't live in Sooga Village at the start of the series and deciding to move in Season 3.
- An example of a scene being reused is The Chef's Vacation where the scene of Ching slicing up the vegetables into powder is reused from Chef Slump.
- In the Jetix series, Ho was okay with cats. However, in this series, he's now allergic to cats, which causes him to sneeze whenever they are near him.
- While still not much into pursuing romance, Abyo seems to take notice of Ching's crush on him.
- Tobe is still Garu's rival, but do not fight as much as in the previous two seasons.
- The Goblins from The original Vooz shorts and the Jetix series are completely absent in Love Recipe. If Love Recipe is a prequel canonically, it's unknown how they came to Sooga Village.
- The Hai-Tais are regular statues in Love Recipe whereas in the Jetix series they were portrayed as sentient, animated statues.
- The scene in The Beauty contest where Ring Ring uses a snail to unravel Pucca's outfit to sabotage her chances of winning is a nod to the scene from Little Miss Sooga where she has Yuni collect worms to ruin Pucca's dress.
- In Season 2 episode Cuckoo Love, Chang seems surprised at Ching's lethargic condition when she first loses Won without knowing the cause. However, in Finding Won Chang knows the cause of Ching's weakened state and explains that Ching becomes weak without Won.
- Also in 'Cuckoo Love', Ching doesn't gain any new abilities from the various Animals Chang gives her whereas in 'Finding Won', she derives power from an Eagle which she uses to fight against The Pirates.
- In the Jetix series, Ring Ring had a pet Shi Zhu named Yuni but in Love Recipe she has a white cat with Blue ears as shown in Garu the Robot.
- In this series' people take a bath in a bucket but, in the Jetix series there was serval episodes where people have a real bathtub. This leads that if season 3 is a prequel, stuff evolved over time.
- If Love Recipe is canonically a prequel, it's unknown of what happened to new characters featured in the season such as Dandy, Panky, Granny, The Florist, Siva, The Pirates and the employees of Dong King as they never show up or are mentioned in the previous 2 seasons.
- In High Voltage Ninjas of Season 1, Tobe is struck by lightning and gains electric powers. However, when Garu and Tobe are struck by lightning in Love Recipe episode Garu and Tobe Switch! they swap bodies as a result.
- In this season, there is more nature life, like forests and more landscapes. This is another example of why season 3 may be a prequel due evolution over time.
- Tobe tends to open his appetite more often than in the previous seasons and the shorts.
- If season 3 is officially a prequel to the previous 2 seasons, it's unknown how Ring Ring grew out of her newly introduced romantic feelings for Garu.
- Jajang Noodles are now referred to as their English name "Black Bean Noodles" instead of Jajang Noodles like in the previous 2 seasons. Also the Chefs cook a larger variety of meals in Love Recipe unlike the Jetix series where chefs almost exclusively cook noodles and to a lesser extent, dumplings.
- Pucca and Garu lacking dialogue unlike the other characters seem to be more of a stylistic choice in Love Recipe. In the Jetix series, it was stated that Garu took a vow of silence whereas the reason why Pucca didn't talk in the series is unknown.
- Several plotlines and scenes from the previous 2 seasons are reused or are used as inspiration for episodes in Love Recipe such as Chef Slump, Little Miss Sooga and Cuckoo Love.
- A lot of buildings are much smaller compared to the buildings in the first two seasons.
- If the series really is a prequel canonically, it is most likely that Sooga Village evolved over time.
- Tobe and his ninjas now live in a treehouse instead of their "Secret Lair".
- Garu no longer lives in the regular bamboo forest like he did in the first two seasons.
- Pucca's Halloween Costume in Trick or Treat seems to be a reference to her ghostly lookalike from the Jetix episode Ghost of a Kiss.
- Chances are that Garu does not have traps (or at least not as many) in his house due to Tobe and Pucca sneaking in without any issue.
- For example, you can refer to the episode House of Doom from the first season to see a lot of traps.
