Master Mi is a very silent and older deity that never talks. He is a new character in Netflix's Pucca: Love Recipe. He apparently provides the Goh-Rong Restaurant with rice for their dishes.

Biography[]

Master Mi first appeared briefly in Plunger Soda, when Uncle Dumpling was "relieving" himself. Master Mi was pulling out a plant, referencing (along with other scenes) that Dumpling was free from constipation.

He's given more a screen time in the second part of The Search for Rice. After Casano, Fyah, and the chefs find Goh-Rong's rice dish enjoyable, they beg for more. But discover the resturant was out. Soon they overhear that the chefs send Garu and Pucca to Master Mi for more rice. The group decide to try and beat Garu and Pucca to Master Mi first.

Fyah calls Tobe and has him disguise himself as Master Mi to buy time for them. Meanwhile they find Master Mi's home. Master Mi is attempting to plow the fields by himself. All the while, Granny is nagging him.

Master Mi speaks no words. Only coughing, when Granny is nagging him, trying to ignore her. Apparently their cow ran away and they were in a tough spot without him to plow the fields. Fyah and his group gain their trust and are promised rice. But only if they do the hard work in place of the cow.

Though they do all the hard work and come close to getting the rice. The plan is thrown off when the cow appears, agitated from a red bandana. The cow kicks the men away, leaving Pucca and Garu to get the rice. The episode heavily hints there is a relationship between Mi and Granny. As they share a dynamic of that of a married couple.

This is confirmed at the end of Valentine's Day, when Granny presents Master Mi with chocolates for him. She requests they live together happily. He smiles and silently accepts her proposal. The two are seen happily embracing.

The pair would be seen together again at the end of Ring Ring the Cow. The two are leading their cow home and Granny affectionately calls him their baby.

Trivia[]

  • Due to having the same moniker and designs similar to Master Kang and Master Soo, it's assumed that Mi is a deity like them.
  • Master Mi could possibly be the oldest of the deities.
  • Master Mi is also one of the few deities that does not apparently use magic, a cloud for transport, and does hard labor rather than lay about.
