Jingle Cans is the second segment of the eleventh episode of the second season and the thirty-seventh overall episode of the television show Pucca. It first aired on July 21, 2008.
Synopsis[]
After noticing the Vagabond Ninja Clan having a hard time finding food in the cold, Pucca and her friends arrange a charity food drive where everyone in Sooga Village must donate cans of food for them. Unaware that the cans are for them, the Vagabonds plan to steal some for themselves.
Plot[]
It's Christmas season in Sooga Village as Pucca and her friends start the holidays by making a feast at Goh-Rong, which includes a turkey, jajang noodles, and Garu-shaped sugar cookies. Outside, the Vagabonds are shivering from the cold as Chief serves an ice chunk for dinner. Shaman tries to turn it into real food, but only changes the ice's shape into that of a turkey, much to their disappointment. Feeling sympathetic, Ching decides to offer the Vagabonds some of their food but Abyo has already eaten it all, much to her and Pucca's anger.
The next day, Ching informs Pucca that everyone in town is contributing to their canned food drive and the latter uses her sled to collect all the cans everyone has donated. With all the cans ready, they only need to find Chief, Clown, and Shaman. Officer Bruce will look for them in his car while Pucca, Garu, Abyo, and Ching set off with the sleigh to find them. Unbeknownst to anyone, the Vagabonds have heard part of their conversation. Unaware that the food is meant for them, they believe the kids wouldn't share it with them so they hatch a plan to take the cans for themselves.
Their first attempt is to distract the four by sparking a snowball fight between them. It becomes girls against boys and Pucca is a particularly frightening combatant but the boys hide behind the sleigh of canned food. At the same time, the Vagabonds are tunneling underground to take the food but Clown points out at the last minute that in doing this, the cans would fallen down on them. True enough, the sleigh falls into the hole, crushing the Vagabonds while also leaving the boys open to Pucca's snowball barrage. Satisfied, Pucca pulls the sleigh back up and the boys shake off their snowy exteriors so they can continue their quest for the Vagabonds. The unlucky trio pull themselves out of their own failed trap and notice Bruce's police car. Believing they're in trouble for trying to steal the cans, they make a run for it and hide under a giant bell. Bruce tries to call out to them, to no avail. At the same moment, Ssoso arrived to ring the bell and found the dazed Vagabonds, to his confusion.
At the lake, Pucca and Ching admire the location and drag the boys into some romantic ice skating against their will. With the four distracted and the cans left unattended, the Vagabonds (disguised as snowpeople) make their second attempt at stealing the cans. They find it hard to approach the cans with the couples skating all around them and when the girls skate a full circle around the trio, they end up taking a dip in the freezing water and pop back up in a heart-shaped ice block. They notice Bruce's police car again and flee, this time using Shaman as an improvised sled to evade the police officer. This leads to Shaman crashing into a rock and Clown and Chief landing on a tree branch, which breaks and sends them off a cliff.
The Vagabonds' third and final attempt to steal the cans is dangling a mistletoe in front of the girls, prompting them to kiss their boys. With the four distracted again, the Vagabonds run for the cans. However, Shaman trips on a rock and slams into the sleigh, causing it to slide downhill and then up a mountain, where it stops at the peak, much to their relief. However, a can falls off the pile and rolls down the slope, forming a giant snowball. The Vagabonds are hit and trapped inside as it carries them all the way to town.
In Sooga Village, the townspeople are preparing for the holidays, with Santa decorating a Christmas tree in the middle of town. He's frightened to see the approaching snowball and falls off his ladder while the surrounding townspeople panic. Fortunately, Pucca swoops in to break the snowball down the middle, letting the two halves avoid the tree and crash behind it. The Vagabonds have gotten their one can but are startled by Ching commanding them to halt as she, Garu, and Abyo are going to give the rest of the cans to them. Fearing the worst, Shaman casts a spell to make them disappear but instead sends the Christmas tree, save for the star on top, up in flames. Santa is heartbroken by this and then angry, rallying the townspeople to throw the various canned goods at the Vagabonds. The crooks are delighted by this, catching the cans to take along with them as they escape.
In the forest outside Sooga Village, the Vagabonds sit down to eat their pilfered goods. But to their dismay, they are unable to open the cans since they forgot to bring a can opener. Ching and co. find them, driven by Officer Bruce, and she is more than happy to help out. Tag teamed with Pucca, she uses her swords to cut open the cans and in moments, they have a full buffet for their less fortunate friends to enjoy. The segment ends with Pucca, Ching, Garu, Abyo, Officer Bruce, and the Vagabonds enjoying a great feast for the holidays and Santa saying "Merry Christmas, everyone!"
