Dragon Player is the third segment of the third episode of the second season and the twenty-ninth overall episode of the Pucca television series. It first aired on March 24, 2008.
Synopsis[]
When Pucca gets abducted by a dragon, everyone in town takes a turn trying to rescue her.
Plot[]
Pucca is out on the lake, floating and cloud gazing, when something cuts through the sky. She follows the creature to a cave hidden behind a waterfall and despite it's frightening roar, she goes right inside.
Cut to much later, Pucca is happily serving food at the Goh-Rong, trying to catch Garu for a kiss, when the same monster comes crashes through the wall. It knocks everyone over, grabs hold of Pucca and drags the frightened delivery girl off into the woods. The chefs identify the beast as a dragon and, declaring someone brave must save Pucca, turn to Garu. He unwillingly readies to go, but Abyo steps forwards instead, declaring himself the better choice.
Abyo heads to the cave and demands the safe return of Pucca. But the dragon proves too strong as with just its tail, it knocks the Kung Fu artist back outside.
Abyo returns to the Goh-Rong in defeat and they must pick someone else to rescue Pucca. Eyes once again turn to Garu, casually eating in the restaurant, and he unhappily moves to get up. But the chefs wonder if fighting isn't the answer so the ninja returns to his spot while Santa is picked as the negotiator.
The jolly man skips along to the cave and kindly asks the dragon to return Pucca, only to be harshly rejected just like Abyo. This cycle continues with Ching, Dada, and the chefs until everyone has tried and failed to get back their friend. As for Garu, he has finally finished eating and heads off to rescue Pucca himself.
Garu sneaks into the cave, completely unhindered and finds a performance stage. There, the dragon reveals himself to be an entertainer and dedicates a song for Pucca who is happily watching. Garu is outraged by this and the dragon, declaring his name to be Destiny, explains that he and Pucca set up the entire "Rescue" so that Garu would come for her and they would have a romantic meeting. Pucca happily comes forward to embrace the ninja but he turns away in disgust, leaving her in tears. Destiny tries to argue with Garu about walking away from the girl that loves shim but doesn’t get a reaction until he directly insults the ninja's honor. At this, Garu draws his sword, ready for a fight.
Destiny is pleased to have his attention and, transforming into this much bigger form, the two do battle. The fight takes them out of the cave and up to a nearby volcano, followed closely by Pucca, with Destiny pretending to be hurt even as he's perfectly fine. He eventually concedes defeat and while Garu stands smug in his "victory", Destiny gets Pucca's approval for his acting. But while his back is turned, his tail accidentally hits Garu and knocks him down into the volcano. Destiny and Pucca swoop down to save him and while the dragon admits this wasn't quite how they planned the "Romantic Rescue", Pucca is happy enough with the results.
That night at the Goh-Rong, Destiny performs his floor show, though the chess are on the fence of if they really needed an entertainer. Destiny thanks Pucca for giving him his first show in 500 years, dedicating a song to her and bumping Garu into her arms.
