Chang (창, Chang) is Ching's father and Bruce's friend. He runs a dojo, where he lives with his daughter and teaches Kung-Fu at. He does his best to teach his students the right way of martial arts and, more importantly, not to boast or show off. Abyo, one of his students, often fails at this.
In the Jetix series, Chang's dojo is known as the Turtle Training Hall, where Ching, Abyo and Garu regularly train at as his students. In the Pucca: Love Recipe series, he runs the Martial Arts Studio. In addition to the three aforementioned characters, Pucca and Ssoso also train as his students.
Appearance[]
Chang has very thick eyebrows and a visible stubble. He has black hair that is kept in a bun. He wears a green shirt with white cuffs, green pants and black shoes. The shirt itself is oversized, most likely to allow Chang to perform moves with ease. In the Jetix series, he has small, brown blush on his cheeks; this was removed in Pucca: Love Recipe.
Personality[]
Chang is very friendly to everybody. As a teacher, he is also stern and wise when he gives guiding advice to his students. In the episode Misplaced Face, Chang warns Abyo that he will "loose" face when he acts like a show off. This was taken literally in the series but, it is also a metaphor that some day you can shame yourself if you are too careless. This shows that he doesn't want his students to be on the wrong path and always wants them to do what's best for their self. Another example of this is in the episode Star Stickers, where Abyo intentionally causes chaos and "fixes" them to make himself look better and more like a hero. When Abyo eventually confessed to what he did, Chang didn't reward him, but he did tell him he appreciated the honesty. This shows that as a master of the dojo, he is aware he needs to not always reward positive behavior and instead talk out with advice so his students can learn from their mistakes.
