Break My Day is the second segment of the second episode of the second season and the twenty-eighth overall episode of the Pucca television series. It first aired on March 10, 2008.
Synopsis[]
Garu starts to relive the same day over and over.
Plot[]
The story begins with a special machine, hidden in the depths of Master Soo's palace. It seems to keep track of the days as it switches from Sunday to Monday.
The morning sun rises over Garu’s house in the woods, marked by the crowing of a Kung Fu rooster. While the ninja and his cat continue to sleep, Pucca has infiltrated the house and leaves a bowl of noodles for him at his bedside. The smell of the food wakes him and, seeing Pucca waving through the window, his is displeased with her intrusion. Even more so when he accidentally steps in the food while getting out of bed.
He activates his home security system while heading for his door but seeing Pucca waiting on the porch, he goes back inside. At this point, the security timer runs out and he's mistaken for an intruder, thus launched out of his own home. Pucca watches him go, finding it adorable.
Later, Garu is making sandcastles with Abyo at the beach and the Kung Fu boy agrees he's had a rough morning. To cheer him up, he suggests a sparring match, kicking Garu across the sand and into a coconut tree. The ninja recovers in time to give a counter attack and Abyo is knocked into the ocean, only to come back with starfish he uses as throwing stars.
Garu defects them with his sword, now having fun, up until he hears Pucca’s laugh. He swings around in a panic and accidentally slices the coconut tree trunk, then sees the girl having her own beach day nearby. Abyo takes advantage of the distraction to hit him with a starfish and while the pig-tailed boy struggles to remove it, he bumps into the split tree which then falls on him. Abyo runs to the injured boy’s side and scolds him for having ruined his sandcastle with the tree.
It’s evening time when Garu is released from the hospital, sporting a cast and some bandages. An ambulance rolls up and Nurse Pucca jumps out, accidentally hitting him with the door. She is delighted to see him and jumps onto the injured ninja to give him several kisses. And that’s how his day ends.
But back in Master Soo’s palace, he passes by the calendar machine just as it tries to move to Tuesday but gets stuck in Monday. The master is confused, having thought they already had a Monday, but shrugs it off.
Morning rises on Monday again, with Garu repeating the same events of the rooster, the noodles, and getting ejected through the roof. Over at the beach, the ninja boys are again sparring but Garu starts to notice the similarities to yesterday. This time, when Pucca startles him into cutting the tree, he dodges it and takes off running from her. He comes to a road with a reindeer crossing sign and tries to go across, only to be run down by Santa's sleigh while the jolly man defends that he has the right of way.
Garu has once again spent the evening in the hospital, this time leaving in a wheelchair. When the ambulance pulls up, he tries to roll away but Nurse Pucca tackles him from a different direction and still give him kisses. And that’s how his day ends. Again. But again when the calendar machine tries to change to Tuesday, it is stuck on Monday, which Soo doesn’t understand.
This time, when Garu wakes to Pucca in his window, he changes tactics by jumping out of his window and sneaking past her while she's left confused. On the beach Garu pre-emptively slices the tree then lets Abyo hit it with his starfish so it falls over without landing on him. Directly after, he runs to the reindeer crossing and waits for Santa to pass, seemingly in the clear. But pucca has already beaten him to the other side of the street and frustrated, the ninja must flee in another direction.
Garu hides out in some bushes beside of a construction zone where some of the goblins are lowering a lion statue into place. Pucca wanders by looking for him, and waves to the construction crew who wave back. In doing so, they drop the stone lion right onto the hidden Garu, leaving him injured for a third time.
This time, the ninja is laid up in the hospital with a full body cast as the doctor tells him he's broken all his bones (even some in his hair) and needs to rest in bed. But Nurse Pucca has already come to this side and starts to kiss him, sending his heart monitor off the charts.
The next day, Garu has explained the repeating days to Abyo who doesn’t quite believe him but suggests they go talk to Master Soo about it. They head up to the palace but while they don’t find the master, they do find the calendar machine which they notice is stuck on Monday, due to the tiny dragon that runs the motor taking a nap inside. To solve the issue, Abyo does the sensible thing by giving it a hard kick which prompts the dragon to wake up and run on its wheel. Unfortunately, the frightened dragon goes too fast and speeds time up several years, leaving the boys greatly aged. Abyo gives it another shot with a weak grandpa kick and the dragon takes off again, this time running backwards. Time has reverse too much and now the boys have been reduced to infants, crying on the floor.
Master Soo comes to investigate the noise and seeing them, can guess they tried to fix the machine by kicking it, which he finds pointless. The proper thing to do is the punch it which he does, setting time back to the present. The kids are restored to their proper ages and he shoos the back home, promising that tomorrow will be a different day. But unknown to any of them, Pucca has witnessed the whole thing and it's given her an idea.
Late in the night, Pucca has taken Santa’s loaded sleigh up to the palace, backing it up to the calendar machine. She opens the lid of the machine and throws in several items: a picture of Garu, a wedding cake, a flower bouquet, and even Santa himself. After this, she gives the machine a kiss for luck. Garu wakes on Tuesday morning and, seeing no Pucca at the window, is pleased to have a new day. He sets the house alarm and walks out the door.
He’s horrified to see that outside of his house, an entire wedding has been put together and there is the wedding cake with himself and Pucca as toppers. Pucca is standing on the porch in a wedding dress and holding a bouquet while Santa readies to officiate the wedding. Garu, panicked by the entire scene, flees back into his home and is gladly launched by the security system out over the forest. Pucca watches him go and, happy to take up the chase, runs off after him.

Trivia[]
- The plot of the episode is an homage to the 1993 comedy film Groundhog Day, where Phil, a self-absorbed weatherman, finds himself repeating the same day over and over.
- The day that is repeated is Monday, July 11.
- For some unknown reason it does seem Garu is the only person (not included Master Soo since he is a immortal) that seems to be aware of the day repeating.
Errors[]
- The noodles bowl Pucca leaves for Garu changes positions.
- If Abyo affects the machine to took them to the year they were babies, Master Soo should be affected too.
- One possible explanation for this is that as a higher being, he is not bound by the same rules of time or perhaps ages differently.
- When the machine stops on the code "Friday", "05" and "29", Abyo and Garu are older even though that code means Friday 05th 1929 so Abyo and Garu should not be born yet (Although it maybe means Friday 05th 2029).
- Also, the machine stops on the code "Saturday","11" and "15", Abyo and Garu are babies even though that code means Saturday 15th 1911 or Saturday 15th 2011 so Abyo and Garu should not be born yet or should not be babies.
- The green pacifier Baby Abyo has disappears when Master Soo changes him and Garu back to normal.
- When Garu watches the wedding, there are pink and blue men playing a violin, a euphonium and a side-blown flute. But an organ is heard.
- When Pucca runs to find Garu in the bamboo forest, the wedding things disappear.
